1 The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Hon Imran Khan
2 Federal Minister of Religious Affairs, Hon Noor-ul-Haq Qadri
3 Chief of Army Staff, Hon General Qamar Javed Bajwa
4 Chief Justice of Pakistan, Hon Gulzar Ahmed
Subject: Should we be the judge or let God be the judge when it comes to faith?
If CoronaVirus helps people see where they erred, let Pakistan undo the wrong done to Ahmedis since 1973.
While Pakistanis and Muslims the world over complain, whether China or US or EU or Australia or NZ or Canada, of being discriminatory towards them, branding them as “terrorists” and even storming their mosques and killing them. Is it not ironical that worse is done by Pakistani Muslims to those who could in every possible sense be called their very own, from them and within them, the Ahmedis.
“لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِيَ دِينِ
Lakum deenukum waliya deen – To you is your religion and to ours, our religion. (Surat al-Kaafiroon, 109:6)”
“Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Noor-ul-Haq Qadri has said that anyone in Pakistan sympathising with the Ahmadiyya community can never be loyal to the country and Islam.”
“A person who does not believe in the absolute and unqualified finality of The Prophethood of Muhammad , the last of the Prophets or claims to be a Prophet, in any sense of the word or of any description whatsoever, after Muhammad , or recognizes such a claimant as a Prophet or religious reformer, is non-Muslim for the purposes of the Constitution or law.”
“Approximately 2–5 million Ahmadis live in Pakistan, which has the largest population of Ahmadis in the world. It is the only state to have officially declared the Ahmadis to be non-Muslims as they do not consider Muhammad to be the final prophet.”
“On May 28, 2010, extremist Islamist militants attacked two Ahmadiyya mosques in the central Pakistani city of Lahore with guns, grenades, and suicide bombs, killing 94 people and injuring well over a hundred. Twenty-seven people were killed at the Baitul Nur Mosque in the Model Town area of Lahore; 67 were killed at the Darul Zikr mosque in the suburb of Garhi Shahu. The Punjabi Taliban, a local affiliate of the Pakistani Taliban, called the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility. On the night of May 31, unidentified gunmen attacked the Intensive Care Unit of Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital, where victims and one of the alleged attackers in Friday’s attacks were under treatment, sparking a shootout in which at least a further 12 people, mostly police officers and hospital staff, were killed. The assailants succeeded in escaping.”
Why are the Ahmedis hated and killed even though they’re faith is atleast “closest” to Islam even if one claims that they are not Muslims! How could an “average” Pakistani, even educated, play God? How could they claim that an Ahmedi can or cannot claim to be a “Muslim” or any faith? And that if they challenge the “finality of Prophethood with their own Prophet” then they must be declared as Non – Muslims.
The second amendment of the constitution of Pakistan openly and brazenly declares the Ahmedis as “non Muslims” using the finality of the Prophet clause. Since WHEN is a STATE required to interfere to THIS extent in a person’s religious beliefs?
Who has given this “authority” to the State of Pakistan to label Ahmedis as non Muslims? Is it not clearly mentioned in the Quran as given at the outset that “To you is your religion and to ours, our religion. (Surat al-Kaafiroon, 109:6)” then why such haste to judge “non Muslims” or even those who call themselves “Muslims” though you and I may not agree?
And not only that, labeling, hating and killing Ahmedis is a norm, why so?
Why can’t we accept them with the same love, affection and rights that the Christian nations we migrate to for money and a better future accept us overall? Do any of their lands “define” who is or isn’t a Muslim or a Christian or Jewish or a Buddhist or a Baha’ai or a Parsi or a Hindu? They just go by what YOU say you are! They don’t judge you, in a way, being “non Muslims” they precisely follow Sura Kafiroon, but you do not! Why?
You can cook up any excuse, any rationale, any “logic” but the fact remains that judgment, as per Islam, rests with God not with humans, not for religious affairs. For non religious affairs such as crimes a state is certainly required to interfere and judge, for example, rapes, murders, thefts even hate crimes. But for a state to stoop so low as to label a certain people Muslims or not is beyond reprehensible.
I demand, as a Pakistani, that Ahmedis are given respect, equal treatment and the right to proclaim whatever they believe in, just as you and I have the right to proclaim whatever we believe in may we be Muslims [Sunnis (Deobandis, Barelvis, Wahabis), Shias (Athna Ashri, Boris), Agha Khanis], Hindus, Christians or Parsis living in Pakistan. To rob the right of what the Ahmedis believe themselves to be, whether right or wrong by our faith, is the same if Christian nations where Muslims earn Dollars, Euros and Pound label Muslims as “Non Christians” and hence open the door to discrimination against them as we have in Pakistan.
And our “Religious Affairs” Minister considers it “disloyalty to Islam and Pakistan to sympathize with Ahmedis”
So please, sir count me as one! For I sympathize with HUMANITY first then a religion that is BASED on humanity in spirit! And I think it is YOU who are going against the spirit of Islam and humanity if you insist on demeaning, ridiculing, hating and killing Ahmedis in Pakistan.
I know I will get hatred and flak for speaking the truth here, but atleast I know I’ve been honest to my conscience. I hope so do you.
